Bring a rug and your best singing voice to Katanning’s Carols in the Park this Saturday, to be held in Piesse Park for the first time. “We have a family fun affair at, Piesse Park from 4.00pm,” said Carols co-ordinator Tania Severin. “We have treasure hunts, giant games, bouncy castles, and other kid activities. “We’d love families to come down and have a bit of fun together.” Entertainment by local bands and performers will also run before the carols. Carols will commence at 7.00pm with battery candles and a carolling book will be supplied. The carols will be sung by choirs from the local churches, plus there will be performances by the Karen Choir and local children putting on a nativity skit. Ms Severin said singing along was highly encouraged. “Everyone can join in and sing some carols together,” she said. “There’s going to be some food vans there as well so people can get dinner and have some time out and a bit of a chat and have fun together. “It’s just a great time for the community to come together and celebrate Christmas.” Residents are also encouraged to bring along non-perishable goods to put under the Christmas tree. All gifts will be donated to local charities to help those doing it tough over the Christmas period.
