Those who gathered for Katanning’s Anzac Day dawn service walked from the war memorial to the Scout Hall after the service for a gunfire breakfast. While the Katanning RSL sub-branch closed eight years ago, the Anzac spirit was still strong at the Lions Club breakfast as dozens of people mingled with former and current service members. A big breakfast of sausages, bacon, eggs and toast was on offer for a gold coin donation to the local scouts. It was served with a side of great yarns between young and the old. Vietnam War veterans John Jenkins and Will Van Der Ham both attended the breakfast. They were pleased to see locals out early to pay their respects.
