Kendenup notch fourth win of Great Southern Cricket Association season on the back of Scott Hillman century

Star opening batter Scott Hillman smacked his second century of the Great Southern Cricket Association season to power Kendenup to their fourth win of the season on Saturday. Hillman hit 102 in round three against Wanderers and delivered the pain to Australs this time around. The right-hander whacked 114 at the top of the order form 124 balls to ensure Kendenup finished comfortable 121-run winners and got back on the winner’s list in round nine at Kendenup. Kendenup were bolstered by the inclusion of former first-grade cricketer Mitch Jackson who returned from injury. Australs suffered their eighth straight defeat in the process and remain winless going into the mid-season break. Kendenup won the toss and batted first posting a terrific score of 4-241 before bowling Australs out for 120. Hillman and Darcy Burcham set the platform for a big score as they shared in a 175-run partnership. Kris Norris finally got through the defence of Burcham to end the terrific opening partnership. Burcham was removed for 62 off 88 balls to bring Jackson to the crease. Hillman achieved triple figures with a pull shot for two before taking his side past 200. Norris finally dismissed the centurion and his knock of 114 included 14 fours. Keegan Berry added 16 not out at the end to help their side post a formidable total. Norris finished with 2-23 off nine overs and he claimed the two prize wickets. Australs fell into early trouble at 4-30 after Cameron Walsh snared the first two wickets and then Jackson followed the trend with the next two scalps, to be on a hat-trick at one stage. David Potter came to the crease to face the hat-trick ball and played and missed outside off stump. Potter and Norris steadied the ship with a 43-run partnership before Norris was caught for 34 off 56 balls. Australs were in trouble and despite Potter making a patient 32 from 51 balls victory always looked unlikely. They lost 5-19 to be bowled out in the 40th over and remain winless. Jackson bowled four maidens to return outstanding figures of 2-7 from seven overs and was well supported by Walsh (2-18) and Callum Gribble (2-15).
