Kendenup Tennis Club junior doubles round-robin tournament attracts 42 enthusiastic kids

Kendenup Tennis Club held a successful junior doubles round-robin tournament on Sunday, with 42 children hitting the courts.

The event, which has been running for more than 10 years, attracted players from as far away as Bremer Bay and Albany.

Four courts were filled across the day, with enthusiastic kids enjoying the event.

Bryce Robertson and Dylan Lock went through the day undefeated to be crowned A-grade winners over Cohen and Tobias Smart.

Harry McPharlin and Louie Ford were crowned B-grade champions after also finishing the day undefeated.

Denny Sharpe and Hugo Riggall finished runners-up in the B-grade competition.

Abbey Tomlinson and Poppy Ford defeated Austin Slade and William Henderson 5-2 to walk away winners in C-grade.

Ella North and Anneliese Slade were recognised for their great spirits on the court by receiving the sportsmanship award.

Kendenup will hold a mixed round robin doubles tournament on Sunday, November 22.

Play will start from 8.30am and there will be A and B division.

Tournament organiser Vanessa Hillman said the junior event was a great success.

“It was a great day with lots of great tennis,” she said.

“We were thrilled with how the day went and it was great to see the improvement in all the players over the day.”
