Two Katanning businesses were broken into on a late-night burglary spree earlier this month. Katanning police are investigating two males who they say allegedly forced entry to Squibb Carpentry & Cabinets and a local factory unit on Beaufort Street late on August 1-2. The suspects, described as slimly built, were captured on CCTV. Police say the offenders allegedly stole an 86-inch LG television which was found dumped on the side of Katanning-Kojonup Road the next day. They have conducted forensic testing and are awaiting the results of analysis. The commercial break-ins followed a burglary at a Katanning home on Chipper Street on August 1. Katanning police Acting Sen. Sgt Simon Barnett said the community had already given police some leads. “We implemented a social media strategy and received information from the public fairly quickly,” he said. He said it was the first flurry of burglaries in town since March. “We work really hard and proactively so that burglaries like this don’t happen,” he said. “We take a zero tolerance to any burglaries. This is disappointing for the business owners.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperswa.com.au.
