Netball returns in Katanning after three-week hiatus
After a three-week hiatus, Katanning Netball Association returned to action on Saturday leaving plenty of sore and tired bodies in the aftermath.
A new junior round started last Saturday with enough players for a short round in two different age groups for term three.
The juniors had a great start to their new season while the younger junior age bracket will start on August 6 and it is great to see the rise in team numbers after COVID affected the early part of the season.
This also allowed the juniors who have been playing seniors for this year to play against their own age group again.
There was one A-grade match played on Saturday.
All Stars 1 were out for victory and produced a big performance, easily downing Kojonup 1 75-25.
In A-reserve there was a close match between Kia Ora and All Stars 2 with the latter winning by just one goal.
Broomehill fell short to Kojonup 2, 49-32.
In B-grade, Kojonup 4 lost to Cardinals Fever, 44-37.
Dumbleyung 1 were dominant 52-19 winners over Olympians 3 and Kojonup 3 prevailed in a tight contest with Olympians 2.
There was also a close result in C-grade as Dumbleyung 2 edged out All Stars 3, 28-21.
In the Cardinals derby, Cardies Phoenix got on top of Cardies Vixens, 44-25.
The KNA will send a 14-and-under and open team to compete at the Great Southern Regional Championships in Albany this weekend.
