Ongerup winter sports season back to full capacity in 2021
Ongerup Association Sport returns to full capacity on Saturday in the 2021 winter season’s opening round.
OAS contains Ongerup Football Association, Ongerup Hockey Association, Ongerup Netball Association and Ongerup Junior Football Association. Winter sport in the association was interrupted by COVID-19 last year, ending up with a shortened season.
But a full 15-round home-and-away season and finals are being planned for this year.
Round one starts on Saturday, with Lake Grace-Pingrup hosting Jerramungup at Pingrup and Newdegate at home to Gnowangerup.
The winter competition will have general byes from June 11-13 and July 9-11.
Newdegate will host the second semifinal on August 21, and the elimination final will be held at Jerramungup on August 22 before the preliminary final at Lake Grace on August 28.
Boxwood Hill have hosting rights to this year’s grand final on Saturday, September 4.
Other significant dates include Belt-Up Round on May 22, Regional Men’s Health Round on June 19, and Think Mental Health Round on July 31.
Big Freeze Round, highlighted by the major fundraising event in Boxwood Hill for motor neurone disease, is on August 14.
