A 41-year-old Katanning woman allegedly used a pepper spray-like substance during an altercation at a local service station on Sunday. Janelle Anne Punch appeared in the Albany Magistrate’s Court on Monday after she was arrested by Katanning police. She has been charged with causing poison to be administered and possessing a prohibited drug. Police prosecutor Sgt Dave Loverock said Ms Punch activated a pepper spray-like canister, causing her alleged victim to report a burning sensation and difficulty breathing. It is understood the alleged victim was a 19-year-old woman. Two other people were also affected by the spray. Sgt Loverock said it was an example of “inter-family conflict”. The court was told Ms Punch was also found with cannabis in her possession. She was granted bail to reappear in the Albany Magistrate’s Court on January 28.
