Popular textile exhibition Stitched and Bound by the Inspired Art Quilters group is set to return to Katanning this month with an exciting new body of work.

“In 2019 I approached a group called WA Inspired Art Quilters, who were making these quilts which were extraordinary works of art, that had never had a full exhibition,” Katanning Art Gallery co-ordinator James Wood said.

“I told them that I wanted to show their quilts.”

Since then, the Inspired Art Quilters have put together a Statewide competition and gone on to exhibit in Katanning four times.

“It’s one of the most popular exhibitions we have here,” Mr Wood said.

“Loads of people come and see them because they are spectacular.”

Stitched and Bound exhibitions generally feature between 35 and 40 quilts created by artists throughout WA.

“The quilts have always been very popular, and because these people really do put the boat out in terms of creativity, you’re not going to see something you just throw on your bed,” Mr Wood said.

“It’s going to be proper works of art, a fantastic example of a different form of art.”

The exhibition, at the Katanning Art Gallery, will open on January 31 and end on February 25.
