Recruitment on the mind at Kodja Place appreciation evening for Kojonup volunteers

Dozens of Kojonup volunteers met at Kodja Place on Wednesday evening for their second annual event to celebrate volunteers, the “glue of the community”. Platters and drinks were in abundance for all volunteers who have helped Kojonup “smile, shine and thrive”. Members of local volunteer groups attended, including from St. Johns Ambulance, the bushfire brigade, Lions Club, Rotary and Apex Australia. Kodja Place manager Jill Watkin said she enjoyed catching up with fellow volunteers in the “relaxed and happy atmosphere” and discussing new avenues to attract younger volunteers. “We’re moving from a committee and meeting-based system into discovering the skills, strengths, interests, passions and hobbies of people within our community, also known as asset-based community development. “We hope if people are asked to lend their support to a specific project matching their skills, interests and talents, we can enlist the support of new volunteers.”
