The WA Government is accepting applications for the 2024-25 Regional Events Scheme. A funding pool of $1.1 million is available for regional events across WA as part of the scheme, which includes a $250,000 pledge to fund Aboriginal events. Last year the funding supported 65 regional events across the State, including Katanning Harmony Festival, Southern Art Trail and the Bloom Festival. Agricultural Region MLC Shelley Payne, who will be in Katanning for the launch of the 2023 Bloom Festival, said events like these are the backbone of regional communities. “Regional events are so important to help bring our community together as well as attracting tourists to our regions,” she said. “This funding is a great opportunity for organisations, individuals or shires to help improve the vibrancy of regional WA by holding a community event with State Government support.” Event holders can apply for funding amounts between $5000 and $40,000 for events to be held between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025. Applications close on October 17 this year.
