An elderly woman has been flown to Perth after a crash near Gnowangerup.

It is understood an 88-year-old woman was the sole occupant of a vehicle when it left Gnowangerup-Jerramungup Road about 11.25am.

The vehicle left the road and struck trees about 2km south of Araluen Road, between Gnowangerup and Borden.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said the woman was taken to Gnowangerup Hospital, where was stabilised.

She was then flown to Perth by the Royal Flying Doctor Service for transfer to Royal Perth Hospital.

The plane was due to leave Gnowangerup at 3.15pm.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Gnowangerup Police on 9827 2800 or 131 444.
