Tambellup storm to fifth straight victory in Great Southern Cricket Association

A terrific all-round performance from captain Nathan Willmott guided Tambellup to a resounding nine-wicket victory over Wanderers in round nine of the Great Southern Cricket Association on Saturday. Tambellup moved to within eight points of ladder leaders Broomehill heading into the mid-season break after winning their fifth straight game. Nathan Willmott snared three wickets before making an unbeaten half century as Tambellup secured victory in 32 overs. Wanderers skipper Kyle Sinclair and Toby Quartermaine shared in a 35-run opening stand before Nathan Willmott knocked over Toby Quartermaine for 13 and then soon after bowled Brock Green. Danial and Nathan Willmott combined to take the third wicket and when Sinclair finally fell for 47, his side were 4-86 and things worsened when Elijah Quartermaine was dismissed. Caleb Keley and Peter Robertson showed some resistance with a 27-run stand to take their side into triple figures but they lost 5-12 late in the innings to be bowled out for 125. Keley fell for 22 to be Nathan Willmott’s third scalp. Nathan Willmott claimed impressive figures of 3-13 off nine overs. Flynn Cristinelli and Nathan Willmott made light work of the run chase, combining for a 99-run opening stand. Cristinelli was trapped lbw for 40 and Nathan Willmott retired on 50 not out with their side finishing 1-127 to be emphatic winners. Green claimed the only wicket with figures of 1-24 off seven overs, but Wanderers slipped their third straight loss and fourth for the season.
