A healthy retirement is on the horizon for an elderly Wagin couple after claiming the $1 million Division One Lotto prize earlier this week. The pair are both in their 60s and have played Lotto for 40 years. They bought the winning Slikpik 12 ticket from Wagin Newsagency but some early confusion had them under the impression they were sharing the prize with four other winners. It wasn’t until the following day that they found out they had won the entire prize. The duo plan to enjoy a few holidays, upgrade their house and help out some family members with the money. WA has now recorded 53 Division One winners in 2023 totalling more than $166m in prize money. Lotterywest has announced in a media release that the last financial year marks the third consecutive year of record-breaking returns for the WA community. Some $1.05b has been provided in grants and lottery prizes to the WA public with $130.5m going directly to not-for-profit organisations and local governments.
