Wagin Amateur Swimming Club finished fifth in their respective division at the 2021 Country Pennants meet held in Mt Barker at the weekend. In all, 29 clubs from around WA travelled to the Great Southern for the two-day competition, which is the highlight of the regional swimming calendar. Wagin was represented by 23 swimmers and competed in C-grade, finishing fifth overall on 389 points. Busselton won C-grade on 848 points, followed by Carnarvon (665 points), Narrogin (568) and Boddington (439). In the relay event, Wagin received 73 points and Narrogin collected 149. The relay event consists of teams competing in 10 medley relays at the start and 10 freestyle at the end of the competition in A, B and C-grade, while in D and E-grade, teams do two lots of five relays. Peel Aquatic claimed the A-grade title, Pinjarra won B-grade, host club Mt Barker Barracudas prevailed in D-grade and Manjimup were victorious in E-grade. Narrogin Amateur Swimming Club were represented by 21 members at the event, competing in 72 events. At the end of the meet Narrogin swimmers had recorded 15 personal best results and scored 18 gold medals, 16 silver and 44 bronze.
