Three homes brought light, colour and cheer to the streets of Katanning this festive season, taking out the top places in the Katanning Hub Community Resource Centre’s annual Christmas lights competition.

Eight houses vied for glory in this year’s competition, with judges aged 14-87 visiting each house to pick the winners.

With Santa greeting families and handing out lollies to children at the entrance to their display, the owners of 43 Aberdeen Street pulled out all the stops to claim first place and a $500 prize donated by Regional Retailers.

Katanning Hub CRC co-ordinator Katie Wheeler said all entrants did a “marvellous job” of bringing joy to all who visited.

“It was great to see so many people and families out enjoying the Christmas lights,” she said.

“Many people visited multiple times over the month and we all look forward to next year’s competition.”

Second place was awarded to 63 Pemble Street, which took home a $300 voucher from Great Southern Rural. Last year’s winner, 54 Daping Street, impressed again, taking third place and a $100 voucher donated by Zanyacs.
