YACWA to host first ever Central Great Southern Youth Sector Forum at former Shire of Katanning offices

The Youth Affairs Council of WA will host its first youth forum in Katanning next week to explore the needs of young people in the region. The inaugural Central Great Southern Youth Sector Forum will be held at the former Shire of Katanning council offices of Tuesday, as the State advocacy group seeks to improve its reach into the regions. YACWA Great Southern regional projects officer Kim Schroeder said the forum would focus on improving the wellbeing, opportunities and security of the region’s most vulnerable young people. “We aim to explore the strengths, challenges and innovations happening in the sector, and create a space to work together to map out approaches and explore solutions that create an equitable future for regional young people and the industries that support them,” she said. The event will touch on education, mental health, housing, employment and justice, as well as providing a networking opportunity for youth. A report will be produced highlighting the feedback from the forum. The event will run from 9.30am to 2.30pm, with lunch provided. Tickets can be obtained at bit.ly/3odJzBW.
