Kalgoorlie’s ticket to the Goldfields Football League’s 2026 finals is all-but-punched after four goals apiece from captain Dylan Clarke and Chris Yarran on Saturday led a 56-point win against Kambalda, 16.9 (105) to 7.7 (49), to close out round 14.
The Roos led at every change and piled on 10 goals in a dominant second half to chalk-up a fourth win of the season.
With six rounds left of the qualifying series, a winless Kambalda dropped four games, and a percentage deficit of 57.07, off the pace.
The Eagles were within 12 points at quarter-time, but they conceded nine consecutive goals before the run was broken by Tryse Rioli late in the third term.
With his four goals, Clarke is seventh in the overall standings with 18 — tied with Yarran, who last weekend played just his sixth game of the season.
Three of those have been against Kambalda and yielded 14 goals including a season-high eight in round four.
Yarran joined the black-and-whites this season as a high-profile recruit from Railways, where he kicked 307 goals in 84 games and played in two premierships.
He remains one of the GFL’s most mercurial forwards who opened the 2023 season with 26 goals in the first three games, including 20 against Kambalda in round three that equalled a GFL record dating back 117 years, before injuries stifled his campaign.
Across 246 games, Yarran boasts 494 goals.
Kalgoorlie have a round 15 bye this weekend before taking on Mines Rovers on August 1.
Rioli kicked three goals for Kambalda and Declan Wellstead two, but the side remains without a win in 2026.
Kambalda enjoyed eight wins in 2019 to finish third, but they are coming off four consecutive winless campaigns after one victory in 2021.
