It’s bucking good fun at the Coolgardie Rodeo

It was all smiles for the thousands of rodeo-goers who turned out for this weekend’s Coolgardie Rodeo & Outback Festival. Competitors travelled from across WA to test their mettle across events including bull riding, steer wrestling and barrel racing. A spectacular vehicle display took place on Saturday morning, with prizes won for categories including old school and unique trucks along with the best “camping rig”, muscle and work ute. In the main event arena, competitors mounted their steeds for a range of equestrian events such as steer undecorating and breakaway roping. Later in the afternoon, the risky antics of bucking bull and bronc riders held the eyes of every person in the arena. A brief rain shower and threat of an electrical storm failed to dampen the spirits of attendees who cheered on brave riders and bullfighters. After nightfall Helen Townsend & The Wayward Hearts and Claudia Tripp took to the stage to provide live entertainment for rodeo fans. Sunday saw the return of the camp oven and slow cook championship, as well as market stalls and more entertainment.
