Hannans’ bid for a first win this season in the Eastern Goldfields Cricket Association’s B-grade competition was thwarted by Lake View on Saturday after a late batting collapse.

Batting first at Ray Finlayson Sporting Complex, Hannans looked in good early shape as each of the top-three — Marcus Gorman, captain Brandon Burns and Joshua Rowell — each got among the runs.

Gorman struck five fours among his 37 off 63 balls, and Burns needed just 55 deliveries to compile 41.

Rowell made 27, but the bright start was shattered when Hannans lost 6-7 to be dismissed for 142 in 38.2 overs.

Matt Ruly led the Viewers’ attack with 4-2 off 3.2 overs, complemented by Laurence Dyer (3-38) and Elijah Young (2-19).

In reply, Lake View cruised to 4-144 off 18.2 overs when Dyer top-scored with 55 off 41 balls.

His knock featured seven fours and three sixes, and Jarrod Lucas contributed 36 off 26 balls with six fours and a six.

The result enabled Lake View to move into second place at the expense of North Kalgoorlie.

Also last weekend, Great Boulder defeated Norths on the back of Daniel Leach’s 5-20.

Norths’ 208 was anchored by Fletcher Edwards (39), Jordan Delbridge (50) and Matt Smart (30).

But the Two Blues chased down the total with two wickets in hand to remain unbeaten.
