Great Southern Kart Club had a victorious weekend at the 2024 WA Dirt Kart Title Dirt Bike Trackers Kart Club

A talented group of dirt kart competitors from the Great Southern returned stellar results at the 2024 WA Dirt Kart Titles in Perth earlier this month. A group of drivers from Great Southern Kart Club came home with a host of podium finishes at the major event. Hosted by Dirt Trackers Kart Club, the competition attracted 261 nominations from 167 drivers across 13 different classes, including 11 midgets (aged 5-7) and 18 rookies (aged 7-14) to race from November 8-10. Blake Curtis had the lead at the beginning of the 100 open but Nathan Chalmers challenged his kart and after a small fight took off, claiming the victory while Curtis took second. Chalmers also claimed first place in the KT twin class. Cooper Davis showed remarkable driving to take first place in the 200 open, second in KT heavy, fourth in outlaw and fifth in 125 heavy. Mark Davis claimed third place in statesman’s division and fifth in the 200 open and Lachlan Meridith was in fourth in the 200 open and KT twin. Tyler McQuilkin emerged with two second-place plates, Michael Hart Jones grabbed a third place in outlaw while Tom Callaghan was fourth in 125 medium. Jasmine Whiskin competed in KT lights and Kara Evans participated in the rookies division. Junior Heavys had Molly Green show her talent by finishing in 11th place. Familiar faces returned to the Great Southern Kart Club track for the Asteel Wagin 1000 Dirt Karts to mark the year’s final race on November 16. The club’s final meeting was 200 opens, meaning the karts had two engines and twice the horsepower for the eight laps. The event had 76 nominations including six interstate drivers, totalling about 40 mixed races for the day. Chalmers was first over the finish line, claiming victory for 2024’s last run and $1000 in prize money. McQuilkin was a close second and Jakyb Sharman took third. The bonus KTT awarded Thomas Aston for first place, Addyson Slater proudly held second and Alex Robinson came in third.
