Thousands of football fans from across the Great Southern and Wheatbelt came together for the Upper Great Southern Football League grand finals at Matera Oval in Wagin on September 10. The weather was ideal and cars were parked three deep around the boundary on the far side of the oval where the Katanning Wanderers tiger army set up camp for the day. All four games were stellar with the juniors and colts finals energising the crowd as players from Katanning, Wagin and Narrogin put on a great display of football. Spectators were treated to a tough and physical reserves decider between Williams and Narrogin with the Hawks emerging as premiers. The league grand final saw both camps loudly and proudly urge their sides on and as the final siren sounded Katanning supporters flooded the field to celebrate the Tigers’ thrilling win over the Cats.
