A fourth man has been charged over the alleged kidnapping and murder of 85-year-old Chris Baghsarian, who police say was taken in a case of mistaken identity from his North Ryde home earlier this year.

Emergency services were called just after 5am on Friday, February 13, 2026, after reports the elderly man had been abducted from the property.

Officers from Ryde Police Area Command responded before detectives from State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad launched a coordinated investigation under Strike Force Chabot.

Police allege Mr Baghsarian was not the intended target of the kidnapping. His remains were later located about 8am on Tuesday, February 24, near a golf club in Pitt Town, in Sydney’s north-west.

About 9.25am on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, detectives arrested a 19-year-old man at Mt Druitt Police Station. He has been charged with murder and taking and detaining in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm.

The man was refused bail and appeared in Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday, April 22.

Three other people have previously been charged in relation to the incident and remain before the courts as investigations continue.
