The Katanning Artisan Store’s artist group are gearing up to present their arts and crafts at this year’s Great Southern Treasures Bloom Festival. A plethora of art including woodwork, blacksmithing, pottery, jewellery and paintings from talented local artists will be on display at the event’s launch in Katanning on September 23. Located next door to the Katanning Town Hall, Artisan Store committee member Colette Annice said the shop is calling on all artists to submit their work in preparation for the upcoming wildflower festival. “We are always looking for local artists to join us, please contact us to see how you can participate,” Ms Annice said. “The store is popular with travellers from neighbouring towns, tourists and Katanning people who frequently visit. “They are mostly looking for something very Australian or giftware that is a bit different.” Ms Annice said the shop is built on the dedication of its volunteers and hardworking artists. “Based around the local community, the store is run by members who volunteer from Wednesday to Sunday each week,” she said. The Bloom Festival will kick off in Katanning before it hits all corners of the Great Southern for the six-week wildflower celebration.
