King Charles has been caught in a hilarious moment desperately searching for an umbrella after Queen Camilla made a quick escape from a torrential downpour during their royal tour of the Caribbean.
The 77-year-old monarch was left standing in the pouring rain, throwing his arms into the air and repeatedly asking, “Where’s the umbrella?” as his wife headed for shelter.
It unfolded at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, where the royal couple were attending a ceremonial parade marking the 45th anniversary of Antigua and Barbuda’s independence.
Charles and Camilla had been greeted by cheering crowds when they arrived at the stadium, but the weather quickly took a turn.
As heavy rain began falling during the national anthem, Camilla was handed a clear umbrella and promptly made her way towards a covered seating area.
Footage captured the King looking around for assistance, gesturing towards his entourage and appearing to mimic holding an umbrella as he waited for someone to come to his rescue.
Meanwhile, Camilla appeared to see the funny side of the situation, flashing a cheeky smile as she settled into her seat.
An umbrella was eventually found for Charles, who refused to let the miserable weather derail his royal duties.
The King continued inspecting members of the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force and Royal Police Force, earning a huge cheer from the crowd as he braved the conditions.
And it seems the monarch was able to laugh about his soaking.
Charles later joked that he was “growing watercress on my trousers” after being drenched during the ceremony, according to HELLO!
Camilla was equally amused by the ordeal, laughing about her rain-soaked appearance when speaking to members of the media.
“I’ve given up,” she reportedly said, shrugging her shoulders and gesturing towards her damp dress.
The visit forms part of the royal couple’s Caribbean tour, which also includes engagements in the Bahamas and Guyana.
Their trip is scheduled to conclude on November 4.
