The student of the year for the South Regional TAFE’s Harvey campus has been revealed as part of 2025 Student Awards events.
Studying a Certificate III in Individual Support (ageing and disability), the top gong at Harvey’s campus was awarded to Emma Panetta, recognising her strong work ethic, academic excellence, and professionalism throughout her course.
Lost for words following the announcement, Ms Panetta said she was honoured to receive the acknowledgment.
Reflecting unique regional training priorities alongside each town’s workforce needs, one student of the year was selected from each campus.
Ms Panetta said she enjoyed having a very good lecturer on her course.
She said having a lecturer invested in the students’ growth and support made a difference.
“Getting out and doing my work placement was a highlight as I was able to give that care to people who need it the most,” she said.
“If you are considering studying Individual Support, go for it, particularly if you have a heart and like helping people.”
The annual awards saw 187 winners selected from more than 12,000 South Regional TAFE students.
South Regional TAFE managing director Blair Marsh said the annual Student Awards were a wonderful opportunity to reflect on students’ success and achievements.
“I congratulate all students for their hard work and dedication to excellence,” he said.
“Each winner is a fantastic ambassador, not only for their training area but as a future leader in their regional community.”
