Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a crash on the Mitchell Freeway.

The northbound road before Powis Street was reduced to a single lane following a collision between a car and a truck.

WA Police were on site alongside DFES and towing services, directing traffic and trying to ease congestion in the area.

The crash caused vehicles to bank up, with traffic heavy on approach.

It has since been cleared but traffic remains heavy.
