Tributes have poured in for a Rockingham father-of-eight who was killed in an alleged hit and run in Perth’s south on Sunday.

Mathew Neary, 37, was found lying in the northbound lane of Mandurah Road in Golden Bay, with “significant injuries” about 2.45am, and couldn’t be saved.

Close to $6000 has already been raised through a GoFundMe page to help support his family and cover his memorial expenses.

Mr Neary has been remembered as a “loving man” with a “rich heart” who was also expecting another child.

“Mathew was an incredibly kind and loving man who helped anyone he could and adored his partner Teesha and all of his children plus one on the way,” fundraiser co-organiser Ben Keeling wrote.

“He was very sadly taken from this world in a callous hit and run accident in Golden Bay, Perth’s southern suburbs, during the wee hours of the morning of November 22.

“Not a wealthy man, he had a rich heart and personality and will leave behind a hole in the hearts and lives of so many.

“Not least of all his partner and kids.”

Mr Neary’s cousin Rachy Ingram took to Facebook to express her grief at the tragedy.

“Feeling like today I’ve woken up in a bad dream that’s never gonna end,” she said.

“You were one of my best cousins. I’m gonna miss you so much Mathew Neary.

“No one can replace the spark you put into all our lives, you are gone but not forgotten. You were taken too soon. Rest in paradise.”

Major Crash investigators closed a stretch of road between Paganoni and Anstey roads on Sunday as they probed the scene.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or that saw the man prior to the incident.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online.
