Patchara Weggers, Rayne Mansfield and Lynette Sellin recognised at City of Rockingham community citizen awards

An education advocate, an Autumn Centre stalwart and a youth leader have been recognised by the City of Rockingham as part of the 2026 community citizen of the year awards.
This year, 14 nominations were received across four categories, recognising individuals and groups who demonstrate leadership, generosity and a commitment to strengthening the community.
Mayor Lorna Buchan said the awards were an important opportunity to recognise the many unsung heroes who strengthen the fabric of the community.
“Rockingham is fortunate to be home to so many generous and community minded individuals,” she said. “I congratulate all our winners and nominees for the positive difference they make every day.”
Community Citizen of the Year
Patchara Weggers was named the 2026 community citizen of the year for her long-standing leadership in education, including her role as board chair of Rockingham Senior High School.
Ms Weggers’ advocacy secured more than $60 million in State funding for local school upgrades.
She is also a member of the Palm Beach Rotary Club.
Active Citizenship Award (Group or Event)
The Country Women’s Association Rockingham branch received the active citizenship award for its ongoing contribution to community connection and support.
Their Lunchbox Heroes program supplied thousands of lunches to local students, demonstrating the group’s dedication to practical, grassroots assistance.
Young Community Citizen of the Year
Rayne Mansfield was recognised for her leadership in youth engagement, arts and community development through her work with the Rockingham Youth Reference Group, Town Teams, Youth Parliament and the RAC Ignite Program.
Senior Community Citizen of the Year
Lynette Sellin received the senior award for 28 years of service at the Autumn Centre, where her professionalism and care helped create a welcoming environment for older residents.
