Perth woke to a wet Sunday but the rain won’t stick around with a week of sunshine and temperatures climbing to 22C on the way.

The city recorded 4.2mm of rain over night, with showers pushing through the metro area through the morning before skies started to clear in the afternoon.

Taking advantage of Sunday’s dry but blustery afternoon, 11-year-old Ally Berthold spent hours at Mt Hawthorn’s Braithwaite park with a friend, climbing trees and zooming down the flying fox.

Ally’s mum, Laura, said the clear skies forecast for the week ahead means she’ll be going to a park every day, taking the opportunity to get outside and away from screens.

“Making the most of it,” she said. “It’s unreal — it’s perfect because it’s not too hot, it’s just in that sweet spot.”

Perth’s temperature dipped to 10.9C at 6.23am on Sunday, with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting some more chilly early mornings this week.

The city is then set to enjoy a string of dry, sunny winter days.

Monday will begin with a chilly 8C and the chance of early morning fog before clearing to a top of 18C.

Tuesday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a cool 7C start and another maximum of 18C.

Temperatures then begin to climb, reaching 20C on Wednesday before peaking at a comfortable 22C on Thursday under clear blue skies.

Another cold front is then expected to arrive on Friday, bringing late showers and up to 10-20mm of rain, with temperatures remaining around 22C before dropping back to 18C next weekend.

Showers are expected to linger into Saturday before conditions begin to improve again on Sunday, with more sunshine forecast and a top of 18C.
