A woman has died and several others have been injured after a gunman opened fire from the top of a pyramid in Mexico.
The horrifying incident, captured on camera by innocent bystanders, broke out at Mexico’s Teotihuacan pyramids, an archaeological site outside Mexico City.
A Canadian woman was pronounced dead after the shooting, with two other Canadians now in hospital for gunshot injuries.
Another four tourists from Russia and Colombia were injured from gunfire or from falling as the emergency broke out.
All survivors’ conditions are currently unknown.

Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, said she is closely following the situation.
“What happened today in Teotihuacán deeply pains us,” she said in a statement.
“I express my most sincere solidarity with the affected individuals and their families. We are in contact with the Canadian embassy.
“I have instructed the Security Cabinet to thoroughly investigate these events and provide all necessary support.
“Personnel from the Secretariat of the Interior and Culture are already heading to the site to provide assistance and accompaniment, along with local authorities. I am closely following the situation and we will continue to provide timely updates through the Security Cabinet.”
In a video that quickly circulated online, a gunman can be seen on a landing near the peak of the Pyramid of the Moon. At one point, he appears to collect something from a backpack as he paces.
Tourists can be seen hiding behind stone walls as multiple gunshots are fired.
The gunman eventually turned his weapon on himself at the scene.
Authorities have seized multiple items from the scene, according to reports by CNN, including live cartridges, a knife and the firearm used to murder the Canadian woman.
