US President Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social to make an enormous call after he finally reached a ceasefire deal with Iran.

Taking to his social media platform, Mr Trump said the he had “had enough” of conflict in the Middle East with Iran.

“A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen, they’ve had enough! Likewise, so has everyone else,” Mr Trump said.

Mr Trump, who just hours early said “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again” is now heralding in a “Golden Age of the Middle East”.

The comments are just one of the sharp U-turns the US President has completed over the past few days, which have given the world whiplash while waiting to see if Mr Trump would follow through, or live up to his TACO pseudonym (Trump Always Chickens Out).

In his latest statement, Mr Trump told Iran that the US would be staying in the area, “just ‘hangin’ around’ in order to make sure that everything goes well”

“The United States of America will be helping with the traffic buildup in the Strait of Hormuz,” Mr Trump revealed, claiming the US would be playing a vital role in the flow of the key waterway.

The exact details around the Strait of Hormuz’s new management are vague after the 10-point framework was agreed to at the 11th hour before Mr Trump’s “all hell will rain down” deadline.

In the agreement, according to the Iranian Security Council, Tehran would need to be paid for the use of the waterway. It will reportedly share the charges with Oman who controls the southern end of the Strait.

The US has not yet said that it would pay for us of the Strait of Hormuz, nor is it clear if charges would for part of the two week reopening during the ceasefire.

Mr Trump did however say that the US would now be helping Iran rebuild.

“There will be lots of positive action! Big money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process. We’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds, and just “hangin’ around” in order to make sure that everything goes well,” he wrote on Truth Social.

“I feel confident that it will. Just like we are experiencing in the U.S., this could be the Golden Age of the Middle East!!!”

The post could mark the end of what may have been the most turbulent messaging of Mr Trump’s presidency across both his current and previous term.

What Donald Trump has said about Iran in recent days

Before the ceasefire was agreed to, Tuesday (local time) had been earmarked by the US President as “Power Plant and Bridge” destruction day.

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP” the US President posted on Truth Social.

As Mr Trump’s deadline neared without a ceasefire in sight, the president fuelled the fire, saying he was serious in his threat to bring destruction.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” he said with less than 12 hours remaining until his self-imposed deadline.

“However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?

“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

Mr Trump said the US was positioned and ready to wipe out targets within a four-hour period, a claim that was backed up by his close personal allies at the Pentagon.

A ceasefire framework was agreed to though, seeing the Strait of Hormuz reopen with conditions, a development that stopped Mr Trump from ordering strikes that experts feared could cause genocide.

Not only will oil now flow, but innocent lives are not at risk from strikes designed to bring total devastation.

“Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE!” Mr Trump announced with just over an hour to go until his deadline was reached.

“The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East. We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate.

“Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated. On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution.”

What happens next in Iran?

As the world has learned from recent conflicts, ceasefire agreements don’t always stick.

For now, the US and Iran appear committed to honouring the two week terms, something that will give officials vital, extra time to secure a lasting peace agreement.

Mr Trump only committed to two weeks, specifically mentioning that he would stop “bombing and attacking”.

Pakistan has played a crucial role in negotiations between the two nations, something it will likely use as leverage in the future, and is expected to remain part of talks as they continue.

If tensions flare, and the US President is not happy with how things are progressing, the situation could easily escalate again.
