Fremantle could welcome back an experienced pair for their chance at making history on Friday night, while they play it safe over another key duo.
Midfielder Jaeger O’Meara could be back for the first time since round five, having recovered from multiple facial fractures after a freak training injury.
The 32-year-old last played agaisnt Collingwood, where he racked up 21 touches before his injury coincided with Hayden Young’s return.
With Young still out with a concussion for another round, O’Meara could be in line for a recall should he get through main training.
“Jaeger completed a session over the weekend and is progressing really well. He will be back into main training tomorrow and will be a test to play,” performance director Adam Beard said.
Utility Corey Wagner is more likely for an instant recall after he picked up an abductor injury late last which saw him miss the MCG trip to face Essendon.
However, as the Dockers, who have adopted the name Walyalup for Sir Doug Nicholls Round, aim for a record-breaking 10th straight victory against St Kilda, Wagner will likely return in place of Chris Scerri or Nathan O’Driscoll.
“He had a really good session over the weekend and pulled up really well. He will participate in main training tomorrow and will be a test to play,” Beard said.
Given the short break between the Essendon and St Kilda clash, captain Alex Pearce was always unlikely to be risked this Friday after his knee injury against Hawthorn, as he targets a blockbuster return against Brisbane.
“Alex is doing really well, and we saw him on the field today. He did about 5 kilometres today, so he is also progressing well,” Beard said.
Similarly, the Dockers are hopeful ruck Sean Darcy could also return for the Lions clash as he returns to main training this week.

“Sean had a really good session over the weekend and will be back into main training this week. We will do a football circuit this weekend, and he will be looking at a test for the following week,” Beard said.
There is no timeline for luckless defender Brandon Walker with Fremantle taking a cautious approach after picking up back-to-back concussions in the WAFL.
“Walks has had multiple concussions, and we are taking the health of the player as number one. Taking a cautious approach with him but he’s moving through the protocols well.”
