If Fremantle fans still cannot quite believe their side will be playing in the grand final for the second time in the club’s history, getting a glimpse of what they will wear on Saturday may finally make it sink in.

The Dockers have taken to social media to show off the guernsey they will wear on against Brisbane at the MCG, complete with the AFL’s special grand final patch.

In their first grand final appearance in 2013, Fremantle wore their white away kit, with eventual premiers Hawthorn earning the right to wear their home guernsey on account of a higher finish on the ladder.

This year, the minor premiers looked to have surrendered their hopes of wearing their home guernsey on the last day of the season by going down to the Hawks in their qualifying final, given the AFL have opted to reseed sides after the first week of the finals this year.

That meant they may have been forced into their white strip again had the Hawks beaten Brisbane in Saturday’s preliminary final at the MCG, but the Lions stealing a late victory ensured they would have the right to don their predominantly-purple jumper.

Meanwhile, Brisbane have confirmed they will be wearing their Fitzroy-inspired red away guernsey for the season decider, which they will pair with white shorts traditionally worn by the away side.

This year, the Lions have played their matches in Melbourne in a design bearing the monogram of the club they merged with in 1996, but will not use the design in the grand final.

Brisbane were seeded as the lower of the two sides ahead of the 2024 and 2025 grand finals they emerged as the winners of, but wore their maroon home guernsey on both days due to the AFL deeming it did not clash with the colours of Sydney or Geelong.
