Fremantle will wear their full purple kit for the first time in an AFL decider with the minor premiers heading into the grand final against Brisbane as the home team.

The Dockers were told in 2013 they would need to wear their white shorts against the Hawks and then opted for an all-white approach.

But this time around, finishing atop the ladder after the home-and-away season allows Fremantle first choice of what they want to wear.

It leaves Brisbane potentially wearing an away strip in their fourth grand final appearance in as many years, which is their Fitzroy-inspired strip.

They could otherwise opt for white shorts with their maroon home jumper.

The Dockers very nearly came up against Hawthorn again with the Lions only narrowly scraping past the Hawks in Saturday’s preliminary final by nine points.

Fremantle ran out victors in the two sides’ only meeting this season, the Dockers putting their names up as contenders with a victory on the reigning premiers’ patch at the Gabba.

The Dockers started their finals campaign with a shock loss to the Hawks at Optus Stadium in the qualifying final but have since produced an impressive semifinal victory over Geelong and a stunning last-quarter revival to topple the Swans at the SCG.

The Lions have had a similar run, pumped by the Swans in the qualifying final but playing great footy since.
