VideoMichael Voss has resigned as Carlton's AFL coach after four seasons and nine games in charge, departing mid-season during a disastrous campaign.

Waalitj Marawar (West Coast) say Harry Edwards’ long-term health is their top priority as he enters a career-defining recovery from a third head knock this season.

And winger Sam Allen has suffered a setback in his return from an ACL, withs scans revealing a high-grade hamstring injury suffered at training last week.

Edwards was removed from the game in the first quarter of Sunday’s clash with Melbourne, his fisrt AFL game since suffering a concussion in round two.

“He’s actually recovered well and is in good spirits, but we’ll now follow the appropriate process to ensure we’re looking after his long-term health, which is our main priority,” high performance manager Phil Merriman said.

Allen, taken at pick 29 in last year’s national draft, will require surgery on the hamstring.

“It’s devastating for Sam, and we’ll assess his progress before determining timeframes,” Merriman said.

Veteran forward Jamie Cripps has been listed as a TBC after he injured a knee injury during the Eagles’ WAFL match against South Fremantle on Saturday.

“Most would have seen the vision of Jamie going down with a knee injury on the weekend which, admittedly, didn’t look good,” Merriman said.

“Pleasingly, he has avoided the worst-case scenario although he has certainly given his knee a big stretch in hyper extension, which has left his knee pretty sore and swollen.

“We’ll allow his knee to settle before confirming a return timeframe.”

The 34-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, with coach Andrew McQualter telling 7NEWS on Monday night the 2018 premiership veteran would miss “some time”.

“But we’re really lucky he won’t require surgery at this point,” McQualter said of the 277-game AFL player.

“We’re hopeful at this stage that he’ll be able to play again this year, which is really important.

“He’s been such a great contributor for our football club for a long time.”

Archer Reid (knee) and Brandon Starcevich (calf) are listed as 1-2 weeks away.

“Archer’s knee has turned the corner and he’ll train this week with a view to returning to full training next week,” Merriman said.

“Starce will pretty much be in full training over the next couple of weeks. We’ll see how he progresses through this week to determine when and where his return will be.”

Experienced midfielder Jack Graham has made solid progress from shoulder surgery and is now running.

“Jack had a really good week last week, with improved range through his shoulder,” Merriman said.

“We’ll continue to build his strength alongside his running program.”

Forward Matt Owies will be assessed later in the week after experiencing calf tightness.

“Matt felt some awareness and scans showed a soleus muscle injury,” Merriman said.

“We will assess his progress with the two training sessions this week to determine his availability.”
