Shannon Hurn owns a premiership medal, two All-Australian blazers and West Coast’s games record but now he’s added something else to his kit bag that no other Eagle can lay claim to - his own wall at the football club.

West Coast today paid tribute to the former captain ahead of his 300th game by unveiling the wall which will commemorate players who achieve the feat.

With some teammates and coaches wearing a specially designed 300th game t-shirt, coach Adam Simpson celebrated the laid back Hurn’s career just weeks after he broke Dean Cox’s games record.

“I know you hate this mate and we did this a few weeks ago but words can’t express how we all feel about you,” Simpson said.

“I’m really proud of what you’ve achieved for the footy club, your family and for your mates. So we’re really proud of of you. You haven’t changed a bit and never change. Well done on 300 games.”

In recognition of his country upbringing and love of the farm, the Eagles handed Hurn a pair of shearing shears to cut a ribbon which formally opened the West Coast 300-Club wall.

He then stuck his own picture to the wall as the first Eagle to do so, in a historic moment for the club.

Hurn will become the 95th man in VFL/AFL history to play 300 games when he runs out against Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday.

He will join Melbourne’s Nathan Jones, Richmond’s Jack Riewoldt and Port Adelaide’s Travis Boak as players to have reached the famous milestone throughout 2021.

Unfortunately, Hurn won’t have a wild crowd to commemorate the milestone given games in Victoria are being played behind locked gates.
