Amazon launches fresh grocery delivery in Sydney with Harris Farm Market

Amazon has taken a major step in the Australian grocery market, teaming up with Harris Farm Market to deliver essential groceries to customers.
In a major move against Australia’s supermarket duopoly of Woolworths and Coles, the US tech juggernaut will deliver groceries in Australia for the first time, beginning with 80 suburbs in Sydney.
This milestone marks the first time fresh food is available on the Australian Amazon site, with 55,000 non-perishable grocery items and everyday essentials available to purchase.
The service launches in select inner city and inner west postcodes, including Double Bay, Lakemba, Rhodes and Rockdale.
Amazon Prime APAC director Arno Lenior said the launch was led by customer demand for fresh groceries delivered fast.

“Now they can get Harris Farm’s quality fruit and veg at their door the same day they order, Mr Lenior said.
“Everyday Essentials is one of our fastest growing categories in Australia, and we’re thrilled to add Harris Farm’s exceptional range of fresh produce and artisan products to our selection, enabling eligible customers to do their complete grocery shop on Amazon.”
All orders will be fulfilled from Harris Farm’s Leichhardt store and delivered within two-hour windows by Amazon Flex delivery partners, with households choosing between same-day or next-day delivery.
Customers pay for their groceries and applicable delivery fees, with no service or bag fees.
In recent years, both Coles and Woolworths have invested heavily in their click-and-collect and delivery services.
The duo has also announced they are working with artificial intelligence to better manage their order flows and stock and assess customer needs.
Prime members will receive free shipping on Harris Farm orders $100 and over, and non-Prime members will receive free shipping on orders $200 and over.
Harris Farm Market co-chief executive Angus Harris said the business was excited to team up with Amazon.
“They share our passion for putting customers first, and their logistics expertise helps us get more of the good stuff to more homes, more reliably,” Mr Harris said.
“It also helps us stay responsive in a highly competitive grocery segment without compromising on what we’re known for – top quality products at great value.”
