An Aussie mum has been forced to respond after she filmed a video where she left her baby on a beach.

Renee, a young mum from Brisbane, posted a video on her TikTok last week, where she left her baby on the sand and went for a swim.

In the video, Renee had text on the screen which read: “Can you guys watch my baby while I go for a swim?”.

Renee then walks into the water, goes for a dip and comes back to her baby, picking it up and giving it a cuddle.

The video quickly blew up, with a wave of criticism quickly hitting the Aussie mum.

“This has to be a joke right?” one concerned person wrote.

“Do not ever do that again,” wrote another.

“No! That’s dangerous!” a third person wrote, chiming in with more criticism.

As comments rolled in thick and fast, and the view count climbed to over 4 million, Renee updated judgey onlookers, clarifying that her baby was safe the entire time.

“Not pictured is the beautiful mum sitting next to us who offered to watch him while I spent time with my partner & toddler in the water,” she wrote in the comments.

“You all can chill”.

Renee also edited the post’s caption, writing: “He is being watched… no one is out here stealing babies- please just take it as a joke.”

After clarifying the circumstances, the young Aussie mum was supported by hundreds of comments, hitting out at so-called internet sleuths who thought they had caught the mother in an act of poor parenting.

“How everyone’s turning into helicopter parents in the comments! You’re doing everything right, and you’re absolutely right to go swimming. You’re not just a mother, you’re also a person, and it wasn’t five hours, but maybe five or ten minutes,” one person wrote, defending Renee.

While another said Renee was doomed, at least online, regardless of what she did.

“You can’t win. If you took Bub in with you swim people would be complaining that they’re too young to be in the water/sun.”

In the video, the young baby, which Renee said was her second and 10-weeks-old at the time of the beach visit in question, can be seen snoozing in the shade, before waking up just after Renee walked back for a cuddle.

In another post , which appears to have been captured on the same day, Renee shared a message with followers saying: “It’s ok to look like you had a baby when you literally had a baby”.

Pregnancy, Birth and Baby, part of Health Direct, says parents need to look after there mental wellbeing after birthday, something that not only helps a mum, but also the connection development with a bub.

On their website, one suggested way of supporting mental wellbeing is: “Keeping active with physical activities and exercise you usually enjoy.”
