A Sydney mother is recovering from surgery after she was allegedly attacked inside her home by a celebrity dentist, who broke in and demanded money before he was shot dead by police.

Chloe Paul underwent surgery for a broken nose after she fought off Dr Steven Lin, 41, during a terrifying ordeal on Tuesday.

In a statement to 9 News, Ms Paul’s family said the dentist forced her to the ground, assaulted her and tried to choke her, before she used her boxing training to fight him off and call police.

“Both have been taken to hospital, one with more significant injuries than the other but believed not to be life threatening,” he said.

“One (woman) have injuries that would be consistent with being assaulted with a weapon, the other’s injuries are consistent with blunt force trauma.”

Both women were in a stable condition following the attack.

News.com.au reported Dr Lin was once a respected dental nutritionist and best-selling author, but allegedly developed an ice addictionafter the breakdown of his marriage.

He fronted Wollongong Local Court just days before his death over allegations he assaulted and choked a sex worker and stole $2000 from her last year, but the matter was dismissed when she failed to appear.
