Man, 35, charged with murder of 69-year-old after body found in Burpengary home north of Brisbane

A man has been charged with murder after a body was discovered inside a home north of Brisbane.
Police found a 69-year-old man unresponsive at a property on Winifred St at Burpengary shortly before 9am on Friday.
He died at the scene.

Detective Inspector David Harbison told reporters a 35-year-old Burpengary man known to the victim was taken into custody.

Sign upMr Harbison said the 69-year-old victim appeared to have suffered “blunt force trauma” with injuries that were likely inflicted by a weapon or implement.
“We do believe some type of weapon or implement has been used and that is still under investigation as is the crime scene with forensic analysis of the scene,” he said.
“We don’t know exactly when this incident has occurred, it’s likely to have been probably 12 hours at least previous to this morning.”
Police charged the 35-year-old man with murder on Friday afternoon.
He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday.
