Tame Impala tour

One of Perth’s favourite sons is coming home to play music from his new album Deadbeat, created between Fremantle and Injidup, live to fervent local fans. Kevin Parker’s musical project played 12 sold-out shows as a newly six-piece band in North America last year and will tour Europe in April, go back to the US and Canada for shows and then head to Australia. Tame Impala will play two shows at RAC Arena, with fast-rising electronic artist Ninajirachi in support, on October 24 and 25. Saturday is sold out; tickets for the Sunday show are on sale now via Ticketek.

Farra

When chef Aaron Moore turned 17, he moved from his home in Belfast to Greece to learn to cook the cuisine across its laid-back islands, before he found himself at Bread In Common and Coogee Common in WA. Now, Moore is returning to the generous, ingredient-led cooking of his teens as he heads up CBD restaurant Farra, nestled inside the newly-opened Hyde Hotel. The shared menu will focus on Mediterranean influences with an Aussie twist, and stretch across the dining space, pool and bar, and the terrace. More details and bookings at farraperth.com.

Mary Street Bakery x Chris Nayna

For a healthy lunch packed with nutrients, look no further than this collaboration between one of Perth’s most popular bakeries and fitness and strength expert Chris Nayna. After months of tweaking recipes, to ensure they’re macro-friendly and taste good, the result is a range of super bowls — we have our eye on the Big Mac-inspired bowl — protein smoothies and desserts including a fruit spiked slice. The MSB Daily Range is available from all Mary Street Bakery locations.

Parkerville Gala

Take your inspiration from the Wicked press tour and dress up for this fundraiser supporting the very worthy work of Parkerville Children and Youth Care. The gala will take guests into the colourful world of The Wizard Of Oz, with the theme of “There’s no place like home”. Backed by Gina Rinehart and her companies, the event will raise money for the development of the WA-first Parkerville Grove School. The school, being built in the Perth Hills, will help kids aged 12-18 who have experienced complex trauma, with a combination of therapeutic support and education. Early bird tickets and tables are on sale now for the March 27 evening of fine dining, entertainment and auctions at Fraser’s in Kings Park. See parkervillegala.com.au.

Wine Merchant luncheon series

This six-part program will take the hue of your favourite vino and continue it through food, so each lunch has its own personality and palate. First up is The White Edition on March 14, from midday until 3pm, where the texture and mineral expression of white wines is explored with a pared back four-course menu that includes oysters, bronze whaler in a lemon herb crumb and a vanilla panna cotta. Yellow follows on May 9 (chardonnay and aged whites with a menu designed to echo their richness), Red on June 13 (chilled and classic varieties with a menu offering deep, savoury flavours), Orange on September 12 (skin contact and gently oxidative wines and food with warm, layered tastes and textures), Green on October 17 (vibrant wines grown organically and sustainably, with crisp, fresh dishes) and finally, on November 14, Blue (cool climate and sea-shaped wines, with a menu of oceanic flavours). Tickets are $175 per person, see statebuildings.com.

From The Desert

This exhibition at Fremantle’s Japingka Gallery is a chance to see work from some of the most celebrated Aboriginal artists, including the renowned Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri, pictured, and many others. There are paintings from masters across diverse language groups, including Pintupi, Warlpiri, Pitjantjatjara, Anmatyerre and Alyawarre, and unique styles, from the geometric patterns and repeating motifs common in Western Desert art to the more fluid, organic and vibrant approach in the Central Desert. The exhibition is on until April 8; entry is free. Artworks can also be viewed online.
