Mandurah train station incident: Man charged over alleged stabbing

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm over an alleged stabbing at Mandurah train station. It is understood St John WA paramedics were called to the station just before 11am on Wednesday, where an injured 33-year-old man was discovered. It is believed his injuries include stab wounds to his hands. The man was taken by ambulance to Peel Health Campus with non-life-threatening injuries, arriving at 11.05am. Police confirmed a 26-year-old man, from South Yunderup, had been charged with supplying a prohibited drug and grievous bodily harm over the alleged stabbing attack. He will front Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday. Police suspect a screwdriver may have been used in the alleged attack, which was seized at the scene a short time after the altercation. A police spokeswoman confirmed officers were called to an “altercation” at the train station between two men around 10.30am. It is understood Public Transport Authority officers helped detain a man in his 20s at the scene. Public transport users at the scene told The West they were shocked by the violence. “It’s just down the road from the murder that happened on the weekend,” one woman, who didn’t want to be named, said. There were few people at the train station at 12.30pm, but two police officers remained in the area guarding the three crime scene locations. One area was taped off at the train station containing a pile of bloody clothes. A second area was taped off near the taxi waiting bay where what looked like spilled blood had been washed off the concrete. A third area was taped off near the car parking ticket booth. A Transperth spokeswoman said that there would be minimal delays to bus services. Trains were reportedly running as normal.
