A cyclist is lucky to be alive after being trapped under a car in an alleged road rage incident in Perth’s western suburbs.

Police allege the 58-year-old man — who was cycling with a group of mates — was hit by a blue Landrover SUV at the intersection of Stirling and Barnfield Road in Claremont, about 9.45am on Saturday.

The 60-year-old female driver is accused of yelling at the cyclists at the traffic lights before one of the bike’s wheels became trapped under her car.

He was rushed to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital with at least four broken bones and was discharged on Sunday after undergoing surgery.

Tony Martin — a friend who was cycling with the group on Saturday — accused the driver of deliberately ploughing into his mate.

“I turned around and saw him basically trying to fend the car off and then going underneath,” he told 7NEWS.

“He tried to get himself out because he was leaning away from the car.

“(His) wheel (was) trapped, then next thing — straight over the top.”

Markus Kern, who was also part of the cycling group, said he “couldn’t believe it”.

“He screamed like I haven’t heard someone scream before,” he said.

“I just couldn’t believe it.”

The cyclist’s family said he was lucky to be alive.

The driver was uninjured and is helping police with inquiries.
