Katanning is gearing up for the 132nd edition of its Agricultural Show, which promises to be one of the biggest yet, with free rides for show-goers. Featuring a fresh lineup of rides, exciting games, unique attractions and food trucks serving mouthwatering international cuisines, the festival promises something for everyone. Agricultural Show president Jill Kowald said the show will offer free rides for thrill-seekers, along with the brand new laser tag event. “We’re providing the laser tag through Undercover SW and that will be held on the hockey ovals, “ Ms Kowald said. “Monsterball Amusements will provide bouncy castles, bucking bulls and other sorts of games, and we have new, exciting rides including The Zipper. “We’re emphasising that all rides a free of charge so no matter who you are, you can enjoy the show.” Many food trucks will line the boundary of Quartermaine Oval, providing a host of scrumptious food from around the world. “We will have lots and lots of food trucks from around the State,” Ms Kowald said. “There will be a variety of Asian trucks, like Chinese and Japanese, plus Mexican and American; you name it we will have it. “We suspect it to be nice, hot weather so we will have ice-cream trucks and slushy machines as well.” Young Farmer Challenge is a new event this year, which encourages people between the ages of 18 and 35 to participate in farming-inspired games. WA Next Generation president and Young Farmer Challenge organiser Kelly Gorter said it was the perfect event for young adults to put their farming skills to the test. “It’s a fun race with a series of farm-related activities where teams go head-to-head to complete the challenge,” Ms Gorter said. “It’s not exclusive to just farmers so anyone can compete. “The winners will qualify for the State finals at the 2024 Royal Show.” Katanning Regional Business Association has organised a scavenger hunt for young kids to complete to go in the running for cash prizes. Sideshow alley is set to open at 4pm on Friday, October 27 and a DJ will be spinning the decks in the food hall throughout the event.
