Bushfire alert downgraded for parts of Shire of Kulin and Shire of Lake Grace

A bushfire burning in parts of Holt Lake, Lake Biddy, Little Italy, Mt Sheridan, North Burngup and Pingaring in the shires of Kulin and Lake Grace has been downgraded to an advice.

The area is bounded by Kulin-Holt Rock Road, Mt Vernon Road, Mt Sheridan Road, Edwards Road and Aylmore Road.

An updated alert from the Department of Fire of Emergency Services, issued in the early hours of Friday morning, downgraded to an advice level after spending much of Thursday afternoon as watch and act.

The fire was reported just before noon on Thursday and that it started near the intersection of Kulin-Holt Rock Road and Buettners Road in Pingaring.

It is moving slowly but is not contained or controlled.

It is believed the fires was caused by lightning and so far about 3400ha have burnt.

Motorists have been asked to avoid the area and roads have been closed, including Pingaring-Varley Road at the cross of Allen Rocks Road and Kulin-Holt Rock Road between Aylmore Road and Allen Rocks Road.
