Ausgold Katanning goldmine project enters final stages of development

The Katanning goldmine at Badgebup is entering the final stages of development as the project team eyes the future opening of the mine. The project aims to hire about 150 local workers and collaborate with local businesses for development and operations. In 2023 the project acquired two farming properties spanning 1026ha that covers the Jinkas, Jinkas South, and Jackson deposit sites for $10.76 million. A previous scoping study published in May established the area as the biggest undeveloped mine site in WA. Ausgold managing director Matthew Greentree said the project moving towards its final stages is an exciting time for the team. “The Katanning gold project is now moving into its final stages, with our lead engineering partner, GR Engineering Services, fully engaged and working with our in-house team and other consultants with the clear objective of finalising and delivering the definitive feasibility study to market during Q2, 2024,” he said. “The Katanning gold project is one of the most significant new gold development assets in Australia. “Underpinned by a large-scale, high-quality 4.04Moz resource, the project will support a long-life, high-margin operation that is ideally placed to deliver significant returns to all of our key stakeholders. “We are excited about what the next few months will deliver for Ausgold as we unlock the significant value of this project against the backdrop of a record Australian dollar gold price and a very robust outlook for the gold sector.”
