Beer tree shows Christmas can-do spirit
The Nyabing Inn has found a novel way, and very Australian way, to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to the patrons while helping out a family in need.
Bar staff Getter Peile and Lauren Welsh helped build a giant Christmas tree entirely from Emu Export beer cans, complete with a keg base and adorned with a beer can star.
The "tree" started as a bit of fun but after Nyabing local Stewart Ferguson died in a harvesting accident, Inn licensee Alyce Caldwell decided to raise some money for Mr Ferguson's wife and children.
For a gold coin donation you can guess how many cans it took to construct the tree.
The closest guess will win five blocks of Emu Export, donated by Swan Brewery.
All donations will then be passed on to the Ferguson family.
Ms Caldwell said they had guesses ranging from 400 to 1800 cans.
The guessing game has sparked some fierce rivalry with some punters taking more than 40 guesses.
Ms Caldwell said she would announce the winner on Sunday.
