Eastern Goldfields Clay Target Club member Royce Normington’s impressive form continued in Esperance during the Easter long weekend that was capped off with a coveted open high-gun championship.
Seventy competitors, including 12 from the EGCTC, took part in the Esperance Clay Target Club’s 62nd annual carnival.
In the opening 75-target medley, Jack Saville led AA-grade from Matt Iwankiw, and Normington was the 50 point score leader.
Iwankiw was third, Murray Kamo finished second in A-grade, and Arthur Ward and Andrew Twig grabbed the B-grade and C-grade trophies respectively.
Last weekend’s single barrel event featured Greg Smith’s C-grade win and Andrew Twigg finished third.
Twigg, who is EGCTC president, was the C-grade double-barrel winner as his wife, Jackie, finished third.
On Easter Sunday, Normington showed the way in the blue-ribbon event — the State continental point score championship with 147/150.
It was his third triumph, with Smith the C-grade runner-up.
After more than 20 years in the sport, Smith was the C-grade high gun leader that earned him his first championship sash.
