RAC Rescue helicopter sent to crash along Brand Highway near Badgingarra, two drivers stable

Two men who were critically injured in a horrific head-on crash on Brand Highway in Badgingarra on Tuesday morning are in a stable condition in Royal Perth Hospital. An urgent rescue operation was launched following the collision to airlift the men to Perth for medical treatment. Major crash officers are investigating the crash which occurred about 7.35am on Tuesday. Police say a brown Holden Commodore sedan travelling north on Brand Highway and a blue Mazda CX-5B station sedan going south collided head-on near Watheroo Road, about half way between Geraldton and Perth. A 40-year-old man driving the Holden and a 32-year-old man behind the wheel of the Mazda were rushed to Jurien Bay Hospital for treatment of their critical injuries. From there, the RAC Rescue helicopter landed and took them to Royal Perth Hospital. It was confirmed on Wednesday both men were in a stable condition in hospital. Police closed Brand Highway, between Jurien Road and Bibby Road in Badgingarra, for most of the day as major crash officers investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The highway was reopened about 4.30pm on Tuesday.
